Strathcona Industrial Association Five Points For Emergency Preparedness
1. Maintain a well-trained work force so that incidents don't happen.
2. Have emergency response teams on site, ready to respond to minor incidents.
3. Have a mutual assistance program in place between local emergency responders as well as with neighbouring plants.
4. Communicate with the public through events like CAER Fair to discuss
- hazards and programs that reduce risk,
- emergency response capability and
- steps for personal safety.
5. Maintain a transition zone between heavy industry and sensitive land uses.
